Pictures That Make Me Feel Happy
This morning I was looking for some Photos and pictures to use for future posts on this site, I thought I’d get a head start on it because it’s not as easy as it may sound. I don’t want to fill the site with “token” pictures of puzzle pieces and rainbows – I don’t think you guys would appreciate that!
As I was scrolling through a ton of pictures of everything I could think of, I realised that the main thing I was looking for were pictures that make me FEEL happy. There are certain pictures which make me feel comfy and cosy and ordered, like everything is RIGHT – but at the same time I also realised that this may not be the same for everyone with Autism.
One of my favourite things is natural Symmetry, or symmetry in nature I guess. I didn’t realise quite how much I loved this until I took a closer look at the pictures I have chosen to put up in my house …
Things that are in a neat and tidy order or pattern make me feel happy, I suppose this isn’t really a surprise to any of you – but I hadn’t realised quite how peaceful it makes me feel. I don’t like clutter in my pictures – whether they are on my walls at home or in anything I am reading. I have been known to stop reading a page on a site because it has a chaotic or frustrating picture!
I love pictures of things that feel nice, like a lovely soft blanket, a cuddly toy, the fur of a soft cat, fleecy things, shiny things, light and heavy things! Obviously this is different for everyone, so again, not an easy one to choose pictures that other Autistic people will like, in my experience if they don’t like something – they will REALLY not like some
I adore finding something in real life that looks like something else, and I have a bit of a habit of sticking googly eyes on things in public to make them look funny! I guess this is the more childlike part of my personality but it is definitely something that makes me happy!
These are my favorite pictures and images that make me feel happy, please share yours with me, I’m genuinely interested to see what people will come up with. I’ll leave you with a photo of my cat “Hooty McOwl Face” nearly falling off of the sofa – because it makes me smile. That makes me sound a bit sadistic doesn’t it? It’s not funny because he’s nearly falling off, it’s funny because ….. Oh, hopefully you know what I mean!!
